Oh hi Xanga!  I forgot about you.

In the time since I've last posted, I had a baby.  How very exciting!

Miss Charlotte Anne is almost six weeks old at this point and is super awesome.

That is all.  See you next time there's a major milestone in my life!

My pet monster

(remember that show?)

Here is a post all about Jamie (our pet lobster).  Jamie is pretty darned awesome.  He's actually a crayfish (a procambarus paeninsula) but we enjoy calling him a lobster.  He lives in our fresh water fish tank (right now we only have a 5gal but he's too big for it, so we need a new and bigger tank) and eats sinking pellets, apples, peas, bloodworms, zucchini, green beans, and that type of stuff.

Here he is on his very first day in our home:

Teehee, he was so little!

Jamie does wicked cool things like strut around, nip at things with his claws, climb the filter pipe to eat apples...

...and moults.  Moulting is probably the coolest thing he does.  He hasn't done it in a long time though - I guess he's done growing for now.

Here's his old, empty shell from his last moult.  He eats it.  Nature is so cool and disgusting.
We actually kept a pair of his claw shells from one of his moults.  When they dried, they turned pink.  Fascinating!

Jamie had some shell rot on his claws that we tried to get rid of by giving him salt baths - this is supposed to draw out any bacteria that may be causing the rot.  Salt baths were quite amusing - for us, not so much for him.  He was not happy.

"Okay, how do I eat this thing guys?"

And here we have full-sized Jamie:

He's about 6 inches from tail to tip of the claws.

The End!

Does anyone even read this anymore?

No, probably not.

My life in the last few months:

- I quit my shitty job and got a new and much more awesome job.  Same field, different stuff.  I work with twelve babies who are awesome and I laugh more during each day than probably ever before.

- Boydo also got a new job and now flies for Air Canada Jazz.  I'm quite proud of him.  He's based out of Calgary so he has to commute, but no biggie - we've done the long-distance thing before.  Free flights help, that's for sure.

- I'm still waiting for summer to arrive.  Rain rain rain rain rain rain.  Rain.

- I saw two of my very favourite bands live within a month of each other (Rancid and Green Day).  My fifteen year old self would be peeing her pants if she knew.

- I have a pet lobster.  He's blue and lives in a tank in my living room.

- I went swimming in Lake Winnipeg for the first time and it was one of the weirdest experiences ever.  It looked like the ocean but I sure didn't float as well.

-  I'm going home for a visit in two weeks and I'm pretty excited.

- Our first wedding anniversary is coming up next weekend - say what?!

- No babies yet, don't ask.

- Today was the first time I've eaten vegetables in a good week and a half.  Having a husband who works away does terrible things for my eating habits.

...and I think that's it.

Election 2008 - "politics is no place for grown-ups"

I'm sure this will only be funny to Canadians, but I've watched it over a dozen times and I can't. stop. laughing.
